HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Leigh Anne Hardin from Martinsville High School on winning her third consecutive individual state golf championship.

    Whereas, Leigh Anne Hardin recently joined a very exclusive club when she won the IHSAA individual girls golf championship for the third time;

    Whereas, Leigh Anne is only the second person to win three individual state girls golf championships, the other person being Carmel's Martha Foyer, who won from 1979 - 1981;

    Whereas, With this year's team victory, Leigh Anne became only the third player to play on four golf championships teams, former teammates Erin Roe and Heather Rose being the other two;

    Whereas, Senior Leigh Anne guided her team to victory with a two-day record total score of 139 that included a 3-under-par 68 during the second round, setting not only a state record but also a Prestwick Country Club record;

    Whereas, Leigh Anne was named to the 1999 Indiana Golf Coaches All-State Team and the Academic All-State team and was awarded the 1999 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award;

    Whereas, In addition to her athletic ability, Leigh Anne also excels in the classroom. The straight A student ranks fourth in her class of 348 students and will attend Duke University in the fall; and



    Whereas, Athletic ability such as Leigh Anne's occurs only rarely: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes to congratulate Leigh Anne Hardin on her victory, on both a personal and team level, and to wish her continued success in her collegiate career and beyond.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Leigh Anne Hardin and her family, Coach Sharon Most, the principal of Martinsville High School, and the superintendent of the school corporation.
