Synopsis: Proof of valid license for vehicle transactions. Requires a person who seeks to obtain a certificate of title for a motor vehicle or to register a motor vehicle to present proof that the person holds a valid Indiana operator's license.

    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning motor vehicles.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 9-17-2-2; (00)IN1234.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 9-17-2-2 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2000]: Sec. 2. A person applying for a certificate of title for a vehicle must submit an application on a form furnished by the bureau that contains the following information:
        (1) A full description of the vehicle.
        (2) A statement of the person's title and of any lien or encumbrance on the vehicle.
        (3) Proof that the person holds a valid operator's license issued under IC 9-24.

Other information the bureau requires.
SOURCE: IC 9-18-2-11.5; (00)IN1234.1.2. -->     SECTION 2. IC 9-18-2-11.5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2000]: Sec. 11.5. A motor vehicle may be registered in Indiana only if, at the time the application for registration is made, proof that the person seeking to register the vehicle holds a valid operator's license issued under IC 9-24 is produced for inspection in a form required by the bureau.
