SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to memorialize and honor former State Representative and Morgan County Circuit Court judge, John Sedwick, Jr.


    Whereas, John E. Sedwick, Jr. received his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law and began his legal career practicing family law and serving his community as the Morgan County attorney from 1939 through 1940;

    Whereas, John E. Sedwick, Jr. was elected prosecuting attorney of Morgan County;

    Whereas, Mr. Sedwick was a veteran of World War II serving his country as a Seaman First Class in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 through 1945. He then served in the Veteran's Service Office after the war; and

    Whereas, upon completion of his duty with the United States Coast Guard, Mr. Sedwick then served two terms in the Indiana House of Representatives before his election as Morgan County Circuit Court judge in 1952. Mr. Sedwick continued to serve in the judiciary until his retirement in 1982, longer than any judge in the history of the county: Therefore,


Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the lifetime of service of former judge John E. Sedwick, Jr. is inspiring to us all and we salute his life.
    SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to his wife, Edna Steinmetz Sedwick, and to his sons, John E. Sedwick III and Edwin Sedwick.
