  | DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL Vocational education funding. Requires the department of workforce development to provide the department of education with a report categorizing vocational education programs by statewide and regional employment demand for purposes of the vocational education formula that becomes effective in 2002. (Current law requires reporting only by statewide demand.) Requires the workforce proficiency panel to make at least one certificate of achievement available in each vocational program approved by the department of education. Requires the workforce proficiency panel to recognize existing Indiana and national certification programs and licenses as certificates of achievement. Adds a component for new programs to the vocational education funding formula. Changes vocational education grant amounts. Provides an additional area coordination amount for pupils enrolled in a program for managed students from more than one high school. Specifies the order in which the grants are funded if appropriations are insufficient to fully fund all grants. |
