  | DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL Domestic violence. Allows a court to place a person who commits a misdemeanor in which any part of the person's sentence for the misdemeanor is suspended on probation for not more than two years if the court finds that domestic violence is a contributing factor or material element of the offense. (Under current law the probationary period for a misdemeanor may not exceed one year unless the use of alcohol, drugs, or other harmful substances is a contributing factor or material element of the offense.) |
