| DIGEST OF HB1097 (Updated February 22, 2000 2:45 PM - DI 84) Motor vehicle matters. Requires an applicant for a driver's license or permit or state identification card to enter the applicant's mailing address, and if different, the residence address on an application made to the bureau of motor vehicles. Allows persons licensed to engage in the business of buying or selling motor vehicles to provide proof of insurance with a liability insurance policy. (Current law requires proof of a garage liability insurance policy.) Requires the driver of a vehicle approaching a stationary recovery vehicle or a stationary highway maintenance vehicle to change lanes if possible or to reduce the speed of the vehicle if changing lanes would be impossible or unsafe when the stationary vehicle is alternately flashing amber lights. Provides that a violation of the provision is a Class A infraction. Makes conforming amendments to the statutes governing motor vehicle records to comply with federal privacy requirements. |
