A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing Trooper Jason E.
Whereas, Trooper Jason E. Beal was patrolling
southeastern Kosciusko County one day in January 2000;
Whereas, True to his caring nature, Trooper Beal stopped
to assist a wrecker operator who was pulling a car out of a
Whereas, As the two men were working, a passing vehicle
slid on a patch of icy roadway, striking the wrecker and
Whereas, Trooper Beal received severe head and internal
injuries from which he died three days later;
Whereas, Trooper Beal's actions were typical of the way he
lived his life;
Whereas, Trooper Beal was always concerned about the
needs of other people. He was truly a good Samaritan;
Whereas, Trooper Beal spent his last hours trying to help
a fellow Hoosier on a cold day along State Road 14 in
northern Indiana; and
Whereas, Trooper Beal was a shining example of all the good qualities exhibited by Indiana state troopers. He truly lived by the guiding values of the Indiana State Police -
integrity, service, and professionalism: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes to express
its sympathy to the family of Trooper Jason E. Beal and its gratitude for
the care and concern Trooper Beal displayed in the daily performance
of his job as a state trooper.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the family of Trooper Jason E. Beal and the Superintendent of the Indiana State Police.
