    A RESOLUTION congratulating the girls basketball team from White River Valley, Switz City, Indiana, on its second place finish in the 2001 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class A Girls Basketball State Finals.
    

    Whereas, On Saturday, March 3, 2001, the White River Valley Lady Wolverines were the 2001 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class A girls basketball state runner-up, the first time the team has ever reached the Class A state final;

    Whereas, The excellence of this season was the culmination of years of hard work by the members of the White River Valley Lady Wolverines;


    Whereas, The 2000-2001 season was made even more special for the Lady Wolverines by the tremendous amount of community participation;

    Whereas, The path to the final game for the 22 - 6 White River Valley team included a 55 - 48 victory over North Vermillion High School in the regional finals;

    Whereas, April Williams, a 5-foot-8 senior guard, was selected as the recipient of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award;

    Whereas, The accomplishments of this outstanding group of individuals serve to reenforce the great basketball tradition that exists at White River Valley High School, and they will live forever in the annals of the school's history: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives wishes to congratulate the members of the White River Valley High School girls basketball team on an excellent season and to wish them continued success in the years to come.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to team members Malea Firestone, Lesli White, Christy Herrington, April Williams, Ashlee Arthur, Carrie Arthur, Holly Halt, Amber Williams, Kayla Summitt, Rachel Beach, Ophelia Davis, and Leslie Floyd; head coach Joe Pigg; athletic director Travis Madison; principal Roger Weaver; and superintendent Stephen L. Campbell.
