HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Paulette Roberts for receiving the 2000 Minority Educator Award by the Indiana State Teachers' Association.

    Whereas, Paulette Roberts received her bachelor's degree from Kentucky State University and her master's degree from Indiana University;

    Whereas, Paulette began her teaching career at Columbus Southside Junior High School, then moved to Columbus Central Middle School in 1979;

    Whereas, Paulette is a former president of the Laws Foundation which provides scholarships to local students;

    Whereas, Paulette is a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Columbus Central Middle School where she teaches 7th and 8th grade;

    Whereas, Paulette began her 27th year of teaching last fall, and has spent all but a few years of her career in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation;

    Whereas, Paulette has witnessed numerous changes and innovations in the teaching of Family and Consumer Sciences;

    Whereas, Paulette enjoys the challenges of teaching

middle school students as they go through the passages of young adulthood; and

    Whereas, Paulette is recognized by her colleagues for her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty for her community and school; Therefore,

    

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes to congratulate Paulette Roberts for being a shining star in her community and for devoting her life to the advancement of her students. She is a wonderful example of success and should be applauded for her efforts in education.

    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the Indiana House of Representatives is directed to transmit two copies of this resolution to Representative David Yount.
