Synopsis: Fire and building safety education fund. Provides that funds
in the statewide fire and building safety education fund may be used to
provide money to local fire and building inspection departments for
enrollment in education and training programs that are approved
(rather than administered) by the department.
Effective: July 1, 2001.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning labor
and industrial safety.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2001]: Sec. 3. (a) The statewide fire
and building safety education fund is established to provide money to:
(1) local fire and building inspection departments for enrollment
in education and training programs
(2) the office of the state fire marshal for the sponsoring of

division of education and information shall distribute money from the
fund in accordance with the rules adopted under

(1) money allocated under section 6(d) of this chapter; and
(2) fees collected under subsection (e).
(d) Money in the fund at the end of a fiscal year does not revert to
the state general fund.
(e) The office of the state fire marshal may charge a fee for a
person's participation in a training conference. The office of the state
fire marshal shall deposit the fees collected under this subsection in the
fund. The state fire marshal shall pay all expenses associated with
training conferences out of the fund.
