SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Verda Slinkard, and the Music Warehouse Show Choir at Edgewood High School, on the celebration of Music Warehouse's 25th anniversary.

    Whereas, Music Warehouse began in the spring of 1976 under the direction of Verda Slinkard, who over the course of her career has become a highly respected director and vocal educator;

    Whereas, within two years of Music Warehouse's inception, the group was awarded a Grand Championship trophy and went on to win 19 additional Grand Championships over the next 25 years;

    Whereas, Verda Slinkard graduated from Indiana State University in 1973 with a Bachelors of Science in Choral Education and in 1980 was awarded a Masters degree in Counseling from Indiana University;

    Whereas, Verda Slinkard's expertise has led her to travel across the country as a vocal educator for other show choir groups, serving as Camp Clinician at Show Choir Camps of America for the last 22 years, and Camp Clinician at the New England Show Choir Camp for the last six years;

    Whereas, Under Verda Slinkard's guidance she has not only created award-winning competition shows, but also a spectacular Christmas program entitled "Tis the Season," and implemented "Contest of Champions," a show choir invitational that attracts groups from across the United States; and

    Whereas, Verda Slinkard's personality, drive, and dedication to her

students have resulted in positive growth, a standard of excellence, and is the reason why Music Warehouse has been so successful and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this May: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:

            

    SECTION 1. That the General Assembly hereby honors Verda Slinkard, a wonderful educator who has inspired growth and success in the many students she has directed through Music Warehouse and other choral groups.

    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the Senate transmit three copies of this resolution to Brad Tucker, Principal of Edgewood High School in Ellettsville, Indiana.
