SENATE RESOLUTION

     MR. PRESIDENT:

        I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION to honor Amanda Reber for being recognized as one of the state's top student volunteers in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.

    Whereas, Amanda Reber, an esteemed resident of Muncie, IN and a student at the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award;

    Whereas, this prestigious award, presented by The Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities;

    Whereas, Ms. Reber earned this award by giving generously of her time and energy to organize a toothbrush drive for foster children throughout her county ; and

    Whereas, the success of the State of Indiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Amber Reber who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others: Therefore,




Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Senate wishes to congratulate Amanda Reber on being recognized by the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for exemplary volunteer work in her community of Muncie, Indiana.

    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the Senate transmit copies of this resolution to Amanda Reber, her parents, Nina and Doug Reber, and to the principal of The Indiana Academy of Science, Mathematics, and Humanities.
