The Senate Committee on Rules and Legislative Procedure, to which was referred Senate Bill No. 4, has had the same under consideration and begs leave to report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that said bill be AMENDED as follows:
Delete the title and insert the following:
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning local government.
Delete everything after the enacting clause and insert the following:
SECTION 1. IC 36-2-14-14 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2002]: Sec. 14. (a) The coroner or his representative shall, when invited, attend meetings of the commission on forensic sciences for consultation on matters concerning the interests of the commission, the office of coroner, or both. The expenses of the coroner or his representative shall be paid from the general fund of the county that the coroner serves, but may not exceed the statutory amount per day for meals and lodging and a sum for mileage at a rate determined by the county fiscal body.
(b) It is a duty of the coroner to attend each year at least one (1) continuing education and training program offered by the coroners training board. The expenses of the coroner attending a continuing education and training program shall be paid from the general fund of the county that the coroner serves but may not exceed the statutory amount per day for meals and lodging and a sum for mileage at a rate determined by the county fiscal body.
