     SENATE ENROLLED ACT No. 214



     AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning criminal law and procedure.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. IC 35-45-2-5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2002]: Sec. 5. A person who, with the intent to commit, conceal, or aid in the commission of a crime, knowingly or intentionally interferes with or prevents an individual from:
        (1) using a 911 emergency telephone system;
        (2) obtaining medical assistance; or
        (3) making a report to a law enforcement officer;
commits interference with the reporting of a crime, a Class A misdemeanor.

    SECTION 2. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2002] IC 35-45-2-5, as added by this act, applies only to acts committed after June 30, 2002.
