SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to establish a joint committee on the reform of Medicaid long-term care and to refer the study of long-term care and community based alternatives to the said committee for review and approval.

Whereas, it should be a priority of the State to ensure that people can stay in their homes and under the care of their families until that is no longer a feasible option; and

Whereas, the State should consider a cost-effective Medicaid system that offers a wide array of long-term care choices; and

Whereas, barriers to home-care exist in state law and administrative rule; and

Whereas, family care-givers need the assistance of government for their medical, financial, and emotional support; and

Whereas, the nursing home industry may need incentives to develop alternatives to our current institutional care system; therefore

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:

SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish a joint committee on the reform of long-term care and to direct the said committee to review and determine whether to approve the reformation of long-term care proposals created by the division of disability, aging,

and rehabilitative services; the division of family and children; and the division of mental health and addiction.

SECTION 2. That the committee if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council.

SECTION 3. That the committee, if established, shall analyze and examine the proposals set forth by the division of disability, aging, and rehabilitative services; the division of family and children; and the division of mental health and addiction.
