SENATE RESOLUTION


     MR. PRESIDENT:

        I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION to recognize the Lake Central Centralettes on their success in competition throughout the 2002 season, culminating with their second consecutive national title in the 2002 National Dance Alliance Competition.


    Whereas, the Lake Central Centralettes, the dance team for Lake Central High School in St. John, have established a tradition of excellence;

    Whereas, during the 2002 competition season, the Centralettes took first place in Invitational Competitions held at Portage High School, Munster High School, Greenfield Central High School, Homestead High School and at their own Lake Central High School;

    Whereas, the Centralettes continued their success in the Indiana High School Dance Team Association Varsity Jazz Competition by winning their eighth consecutive regional and state titles; and


    Whereas, competing in the National Dance Alliance Varsity Dance Competition, the Centralettes successfully defended their 2001 title and were named the 2002 National Champions: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the Lake Central Centralettes on their success throughout the 2002 dance competition season and congratulates the members on being named the 2002 National Dance Alliance National Champions in Varsity Jazz.
    SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Dance Director Kevin Mathis and Principal Sandie Platt.
