    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to memorialize and honor Canfield DeMotte Boone.

    Whereas, Canfield DeMotte Boone, known by most as "Buddy," was born and raised in Milan, Indiana. While attending Milan High School, Buddy was a member of the basketball team and an excellent trumpeter in the band;

    Whereas, after graduating from Milan High School in 1966, Buddy continued his education at Butler University, graduating in 1970;

    Whereas, Buddy Boone then pursued a military career, serving as an officer in the Indiana National Guard for many years. Since 1990, Buddy has held a military position at the Pentagon and on September 10, 2001 received a promotion to Colonel;

    Whereas, on September 11, 2001, Buddy Boone was lost in the attack on the Pentagon;

    Whereas, during the funeral service, the Boone family received the military awards and honors given to their loved one by the United States government which included the Legion of Merit Award, the Purple Heart, the State of Indiana Distinguished Service Medal, the Cold War Certificate and the Honorable Service Certificate. The

family was also presented the Patriotic Civilian Service Award;

    Whereas, Buddy was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery where the service was conducted with full military honors;

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly memorializes and honors Canfield DeMotte "Buddy" Boone for his lifetime of service and dedication to his country.
    SECTION 2. That the People of Indiana and of the United States of America mourn the loss of Buddy and all the innocent victims of the September 11, 2001 attack on America.
    SECTION 3. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to his wife, Linda Shackelford Boone; his children, Chris Boone, Andy Boone and Jason Boone; his mother, Elda Gail Boone; and his sisters, Joy Caplinger and Deanna DeMotte.
