RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the Tri-Central Cheerblock for its enthusiastic and broadbased support of the Basketball Program. Tri-Central Cheerblock
    
    Whereas, the Tri-Central High School Cheerblock has been in existence since the school began in 1970;

    Whereas, after interest wavered in the late 70's, basketball coach Jerry Fernung asked Rick Grimme to rejuvenate the Cheerblock and the school's spirit;
    
    Whereas, in 1979 an effort was put forth to include guys and well as girls in the Cheerblock;

    Whereas, since that first year of a membership of 100, the Cheerblock has grown to a total of 385 members today;
    
    Whereas, this year's sponsors are Mr. Dave Gentry, Mr. Rick Grimme, and the cheer coach and advisor, Mrs. Terry Smith;

    Whereas, the Pep Band and Music Department under the direction of Band Director, Jason Kahl play an important and intregal part of the Cheerblock

    Whereas, the Cheerblock has received support and sponsorship from other adults and former teachers, including Miss Elaine Buchanan, Mr. Brian Caldwell, and Ms. Ann

Marie Bailey;

    Whereas, some 385 members make up the Tri-Central Cheerblock and each member purchases their own matching shirts and season tickets;
    
    Whereas, the Tri-Central High School Cheerblock has become known as the "6th man" because of their importance to the team;

    Whereas, the Cheerblock is an important part of Hoosier Hysteria, taking up nearly half of the gymnasium during games;
    
    Whereas, the Tri-Central High School Cheerblock has the distinction of being the only school to twice win the coveted WTHR Channel 13 Spirit Award given by TV Sports Director Dave Collabro;

    Whereas, during the pre-game shows, the Cheerblock members sing, dance, and perform cheers that support the school and the team; and
    
    Whereas, the Cheerblock, its basketball players, the cheerleaders, the mascot, managers, stat people, trainers, and film person total four hundred thirty-three students actively involved in every home game making up 76% of the students enrolled in Tri-Central and demonstrate what Hoosier Hysteria truly is.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives of the Indiana General Assembly honors the Tri-Central High School Cheerblock and all of its members, supporters, and sponsors.

    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the Indiana House of

Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to its current sponsors: Dave Gentry, Rick Grimme, and Terry Smith, Athletic Director, Gary Rhew, and High School Principal, Dave Driggs.
