        A RESOLUTION recognizing the accomplishments of James Martin on the occasion of his retirement.

    Whereas, James Martin has devoted 36 years of his life to the education of the children of Indiana;

    Whereas, On June 30, 2003, James Martin will retire as the superintendent of the Warrick County School Corporation;

    Whereas, James Martin began teaching in 1967 at Webb Elementary School in Franklin, Indiana;

    Whereas, He continued teaching there until 1971 when he left the classroom to become a principal, first at Oakdale Elementary School and then at Sharon Elementary School, both

in the Warrick County School Corporation;

    Whereas, James Martin became the assistant superintendent of the Warrick County School Corporation in 1987 and superintendent in 1991;

    Whereas, In addition to his work as superintendent, James Martin also volunteers time to help his community through his involvement with Kiwanis International, Boonville Chapter; Newburgh United Methodist Church; Warrick County Child Protection Agency; Boonville Country Club; Lions Club, Boonville Chapter; and Outstanding Young Men of America;

    Whereas, James Martin is also a member of the Indiana Association of Elementary School Principals, Phi Delta Kappa, Evansville Chapter, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Association of School Administrators, and the Warrick County Administrators' Association; and

    Whereas, James Martin has touched the lives of thousands of children during his career and will be greatly missed: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives expresses our gratitude to James R. Martin for his many hours of dedicated service to the children of Indiana and wishes him happiness in his retirement.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to James R. Martin and his family.
