    A HOUSE RESOLUTION to honor Anderson, Indiana Head Basketball Coach Ron Hecklinski for sixteen years as a head coach. He has compiled a record of 235-125 and his teams have combined for five sectional titles, one regional championship and seven conference crowns.

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski was assistant coach at Ball State University prior to moving into his current position and is currently in his tenth season as the Anderson Indian's head coach;

    Whereas, the McDonald's All American Game Selection Committee named Coach Hecklinski as the head coach for the East squad in the twenty-sixth annual high school boys basketball contest to be held on March 26, 2003, at Cleveland's Gund Arena and televised by ESPN;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski served as an assistant coach in the McDonald's All American Game the past four years ;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski says that the thing that has excited him the most at these games in Washington, D.C. is not only being around great players, but watching them walk through the children's hospitals and interact with the young children and sick children;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski is active in conditioning and development of his player's character during practices and media events in front of multiple NBA representatives;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski who is a liver transplant survivor is never far from his purpose of being involved in something that's going to raise money for McDonald Charities;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski refused to forget his life- threatening ordeal, and with his eye opening experience still vivid , he tried to bring his newfound respect for life to the basketball court and with his philosophy;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski continuously praises his players' contributions and maturity while spending time with the children under the care of Ronald McDonald House Charities;

    Whereas, Coach Hecklinski states "Being involved in basketball is my life and I thank the good Lord for putting me in these positions";

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the House of Representatives and the Indiana General Assembly honors Coach Ron Hecklinski as a phenomenal coach and his commitment to organ donation awareness.

    SECTION 2. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Coach Ron
