A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
natural and cultural resources.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1.

READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2003]: Sec. 1. The
director may issue to:
(1) a person that owns or has an interest in property being
damaged or threatened with damage by a wild animal protected
by this article; or
(2) a business entity employed by a person referred to in
subdivision (1);
a free permit to take, kill, or capture the wild animal.

READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2003]: Sec. 2.
(a)
Notwithstanding any other prohibition or requirement of this article or
the rules adopted under this article, the director shall prescribe the
following:
(1) The manner of taking the wild animal.
(2) The expiration of the permit.
(3) The rules the director considers necessary.
(4) The disposition of the animal.
(b) If the director issues a permit to a business entity under
section 1 of this chapter and the business entity kills the wild
animal, the business entity must kill the animal in a manner that
complies with recommendations contained in the 2000 Report of
the American Veterinary Medical Association Panel on Euthanasia
(as published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical
Association, Volume 218, Number 5, March 1, 2001).
