SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Department of Transportation to designate the stretch of highway on I-74 from the 142 mile marker to the 149 mile marker as the "Trooper Andrew Winzenread Memorial Highway."

    Whereas, Trooper Andrew Winzenread faithfully served the State of Indiana as a law enforcement officer;

    Whereas, while patrolling I-74 in Decatur County, Trooper Winzenread stopped to assist a stranded motorist who had run out of gas. Upon returning to the vehicle after obtaining gas for the motorist, Trooper Winzenread exited his patrol car and was struck by an oncoming semi-tractor trailer; and

    Whereas, Trooper Winzenread died while actively serving his community and the State of Indiana: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes the service and dedication of Trooper Andrew Winzenread to the State of Indiana.
    SECTION 2. That the Indiana General Assembly requests the Indiana Department of Transportation memorialize Trooper Andrew

Winzenread's commitment to Indiana as a servant of the community by designating the stretch of highway on I-74 from the 142 mile marker to the 149 mile marker as the "Trooper Andrew Winzenread Memorial Highway."
    SECTION 3. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Indiana Department of Transportation.
