        A RESOLUTION congratulating Nicole Pollard on her selection as the 2004 Indiana Junior Miss.

    Whereas, It is the goal of the Indiana Junior Miss program to foster the educational goals of college-bound senior girls;

    Whereas, The Junior Miss program exists "to recognize and reward young women who have distinguished themselves at school and in their community with educational scholarships";

    Whereas, On Saturday, February 14, Nicole Pollard was selected as Indiana's Junior Miss 2004 from a group of 29 young women;

    Whereas, Nicole Pollard is a senior at Lafayette Jefferson High School;

    Whereas, For the first time in 40 years, the Indiana winner is from the same local program as the previous year: the Greater Tippecanoe County program;

    Whereas, Nicole Pollard was awarded $8,000 in cash scholarships for her victory in the 2004 Indiana Junior Miss competition;

    Whereas, The competition involves the areas of interview, scholastics, talent, fitness, and poise;

    Whereas, Although Nicole Pollard was not an individual winner in any of the five areas of competition, her overall performance impressed the judges the most;

    Whereas, As the 2004 Indiana Junior Miss, Nicole Pollard will represent Indiana in June at America's Junior Miss 2004; and

    Whereas, Beauty and intelligence combine in Miss Nicole Pollard: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates Nicole Pollard on her selection as the 2004 Indiana Junior Miss and wishes her success in the national competition.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to Nicole Pollard and her family.
