    The Senate Committee on Transportation and Homeland Security, to which was referred Senate Bill No. 493, has had the same under consideration and begs leave to report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that said bill be AMENDED as follows:

SOURCE: Page 1, line 1; (04)AM049301.1. -->     Page 1, between the enacting clause and line 1, begin a new paragraph and insert:
SOURCE: IC 25-1-4-4; (04)AM049301.1. -->     "SECTION 1. IC 25-1-4-4 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE]: A board, a commission, a committee, or an agency regulating a profession or occupation under this title or under IC 15, IC 16, or IC 22 may grant an applicant a waiver from all or part of the continuing education requirement for a renewal period if the applicant was not able to fulfill the requirement due to a hardship that resulted from any of the following:
        (1) Service in the armed forces of the United States during a substantial part of the renewal period.

        (2) An incapacitating illness or injury.
        (3) Other circumstances determined by the board or agency.
    Renumber all SECTIONS consecutively.
    (Reference is to SB 493 as introduced.)

and when so amended that said bill do pass .
