SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

        I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION to honor Charles W. "Todd" Eggers for his outstanding service as a Doorkeeper for the Indiana Senate over the last twenty years.

        Whereas, Todd Eggers was born on October 29, 1918 in Hammond, Indiana;

        Whereas, while attending George Rogers Clark High School, Todd excelled both in the classroom, where his favorite subject was mathematics, and as a swimmer;

        Whereas, Todd then entered the United States Army where he reached the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Signal Corps after serving both in the U.S. and in Newfoundland;

        Whereas, upon leaving the service, Todd entered Northwestern University to study Business and Economics. While a student, he became a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and the Women's Athletic Association-Men's Union (WAA-MU). As a member of the WAA-MU, Todd helped to put on a Broadway review each year;

        Whereas, after receiving his degree from Northwestern,

Todd moved to Iowa to work with one of his fraternity brothers at Iowa Trust and Savings. Later, Todd returned to Indiana to pursue a career with Allison Aircraft Engines, where he remained for the next thirty years, reaching the level of General Supervisor of Purchasing;

        Whereas, in 1984, Todd first began serving as a Doorkeeper for the Senate. Throughout his twenty year tenure, he has assisted each of the Senators in communicating with the many members of the public who come to the State House to meet with the legislators;

        Whereas, Todd and his wife, Connie, raised four children, who have blessed them with seven beautiful grandchildren;

        Whereas, at the end of this Session of the Indiana General Assembly, Todd has decided to hang up his trademark blue blazer and gold name-tag in order to travel the world with his beautiful wife Connie;

        Whereas, according to Todd, serving the legislature as a doorkeeper "gets in your blood and keeps you coming back for more year after year;" and

        Whereas, everyone who works in this chamber or has been fortunate enough to come in contact with Todd in their dealings with the Senate will miss his charm and caring presence. We thank him for his years of dedicated service and wish him the best wherever his travels may take him: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

        SECTION 1. That the Indiana State Senate wishes to congratulate Todd Eggers on his retirement after twenty sessions serving as a Doorkeeper for the Senate.
        SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Todd and Connie Eggers and each of their sons.
