HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring J. Reid Williamson Jr. on his retirement from the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.

    Whereas, J. Reid Williamson Jr. was hired to lead the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana in 1974;

    Whereas, At the end of April 2005, Reid Williamson will retire from that position;

    Whereas, During Reid Williamson's 31 year tenure, the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana has grown to unequaled status among statewide preservation organizations in the United States;

    Whereas, When Reid Williamson arrived in Indiana, the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana had one house museum, 300 members, and a staff of three;

    Whereas, Today the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana has three house museums, 11,000 members, ten offices around the state, and a staff of 53, making it the largest historic preservation organization in the United States apart from the National Trust;

    Whereas, Under Reid Williamson's leadership, the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana has helped to create more than 200 local preservation groups and commissions throughout Indiana and devised several funding programs to assist these groups in carrying out preservation projects in

their communities;

    Whereas, Reid Williamson has also been a highly visible presence in the Indiana General Assembly for many years, advocating for Hoosier landmarks and preservation-friendly laws; and

    Whereas, Reid Williamson has made a difference in the quality of life for Hoosiers in the twenty-first century; his presence will be missed by the staff of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana and by Hoosiers everywhere: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes Reid Williamson all the best and thanks him for his many contributions to the state of Indiana.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Reid Williamson and the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.
