A RESOLUTION honoring John Hall.
Whereas, John Hall currently serves as Field Office
Director for the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) at the Indianapolis office;
Whereas, John Hall directs the Indianapolis office with a
staff of 87 people and three additional people in Gary;
Whereas, When John Hall came to HUD, he brought with
him a solid knowledge of neighborhood issues and recognized
the importance of a safe living environment and of the
opportunity for Hoosiers to own their own home;
Whereas, In an effort to better understand the needs of the
area he serves, John Hall has been meeting with mayors,
housing authority executives, community development
professionals, and others to get an understanding of the
strengths and challenges of each of the communities in Indiana;
Whereas, Under the guidance of John Hall, the
Indianapolis office has doubled its home ownership outreach
activities, including participating in the Indiana State Fair to
increase homeowners, specifically minority homeowners, in
Indiana; the Multi-Family Division has led the country in
refinancing of FHA mortgages allowing for the continuation of
affordable housing; partnered with the Indiana State
Department of Health to enhance a statewide effort to eliminate
lead hazards endangering children under six; and enabled our
faith-based initiatives to generate over 200 participants
statewide in the grant writing forums;
Whereas, Before accepting his position with HUD, John
Hall served as the Director of Neighborhood Relations for the
Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County and as
Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis under Mayor Stephen
Goldsmith;
Whereas, In addition to his work locally, John Hall served
as a senior aide to Senator Richard Lugar for 15 years, as an
administrator at the Purdue University School of Engineering
and Technology at IUPUI, and as a history and government
teacher/coach/trainer at Arsenal Technical High School; and
Whereas, John Hall brings with him a wealth of knowledge
that will be put to good use improving the living conditions and
neighborhoods of Indiana: Therefore,
