        A RESOLUTION honoring Jennifer Shepherd.

    Whereas, Eighteen-year-old Jennifer Shepherd is the 2004-2005 Indiana FFA state treasurer;

    Whereas, As state treasurer, Jennifer will spend the coming year traveling the state promoting agricultural education and the FFA, speaking to more than 6,000 students and FFA supporters, presenting numerous workshops and conferences, and participating in good will tours;

    Whereas, In addition to these duties, Jennifer is responsible for developing relationships with leaders in government, education, business, and agriculture;

    Whereas, Jennifer has been an active member of the FFA at the chapter, district, state, and national level for four years serving as chapter president, vice president, reporter, district reporter, and section 1 director;

    Whereas, Jennifer has attended several leadership conferences, including the Premier Leadership Training Conference, and the Leadership Development Workshop, served as a counselor at Foundations in Reaching Excellence, served as a 2003 National Delegate, and served on Indiana's 75th Anniversary Celebration Planning Committee;

    Whereas, Jennifer has participated in dairy judging, horticulture demonstrations, and extemporaneous public speaking events;

    Whereas, Jennifer has been recognized locally with the Chapter Scholarship Award, Top Leader Award, was a Sterling Sentinel Scholarship recipient, and was named one of 21 "Women Leaders of Fort Wayne";

    Whereas, After serving the Indiana FFA and its members, Jennifer plans to attend Indiana University and major in business and law with a goal of pursuing a career in politics and law; Jennifer would ultimately like to become the commissioner of agriculture and the lieutenant governor: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates Jennifer Shepherd on her selection as the 2004-2005 Indiana FFA state treasurer and wishes her success at Indiana University.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to Jennifer Shepherd, her parents, Martin and Rhonda Shepherd, and her sister Shannon Shepherd.
