        A RESOLUTION honoring Eric Barnard.
    

    Whereas, Eighteen-year-old Eric Barnard is the 2004-2005 state northern region vice president for the Indiana Future Farmers of America (FFA);

    Whereas, As State Northern Region Vice President, Eric will spend the coming year traveling the state promoting agricultural education and the FFA, speaking to more than 6,000 students and FFA supporters, presenting numerous workshops and conferences, and participating in good will tours;

    Whereas, In addition to these duties, Eric is responsible for developing relationships with leaders in government,

education, business, and agriculture;

    Whereas, Eric has been an active member of the FAA at the chapter, district, state, and national level for four years, serving as chapter sentinel, vice president, president, district V reporter, and president;

    Whereas, Eric has attended and volunteered at numerous state activities, including both state national conventions and the Premier Leadership Training Conference, NLSCO, the Leadership Development Workshop, and Foundations in Reaching Excellence;

    Whereas, Eric has participated in career development events on all levels, including job interview career development events on the state level and the Quiz Bowl; he placed first in the Leadership Ambassador event and interviewed for his chapter in the Top Ten Chapter Award, in which his chapter placed first;

    Whereas, Eric has been recognized locally with numerous awards and distinctions, including the Star Greenhand, Star Agribusinessman, Valedictorian, Lilly Endowment Community Scholar, Purdue Indiana Top Resident Scholar, and the National FFA's Pennzoil Scholarship, and was an Indianapolis Colts Academic All-Star; and

    Whereas, After serving the Indiana FFA and its members, Eric plans to attend Purdue University, majoring in agricultural and biological engineering with a goal of pursuing a career in the agricultural field and specializing in agricultural equipment development: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates Eric Barnard on his selection as the 2004-2005 state northern region vice president for the Indiana Future Farmers of America and wishes him success at Purdue University.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to Eric Barnard and his parents, Mike and Lori Barnard.
