        A RESOLUTION honoring Phillip Wrighthouse.

    Whereas, Phillip Wrighthouse, a senior at Attica High School, became the first student from Fountain County to perform with the professional musicians from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra;

    Whereas, Phillip Wrighthouse, who has participated in the ISSMA Solo/Ensemble Competitions for nine years, received a second place rating in the competitions during his senior year and a first place rating playing the french horn;

    Whereas, Phillip Wrighthouse also was awarded a position in the IBA All-District Honors Band;

    Whereas, Wrighthouse was among 108 applicants from Indiana who represented 24 schools in the ISSMA Solo/Ensemble Competitions;

    Whereas, The ISSMA competition was created in 1991 for students who are considering orchestra performance as a career to give them experience in a hands-on setting with professional musicians;

    Whereas, In addition to his musical interests, Phillip Wrighthouse has participated in swimming, tennis, musical productions of Guess What I Did Last Summer, Annie, and Bye Bye Birdie, the foreign language club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and serves as the president of the senior class and a Hoosier Boys State delegate;

    Whereas, Phillip is also an outstanding student maintaining a 3.762 grade point average and plans to attend Purdue University in the fall of 2005;

    Whereas, Phillip is very involved in his community doing volunteer work for Attica Dollars for Scholars, Make a Wish Foundation and Attica United Way and acting as a Tobacco Cessation Facilitator; and

    Whereas, Phillip Wrighthouse is a role model for his fellow students and community members; through hard work and dedication he has been able to achieve many things: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates Phillip Wrighthouse on his selection to play with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and wishes him continued success in all his future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmits a copy of this resolution to Phillip Wrighthouse and his parents.
