    A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the establishment of an interim committee to study Indiana's archaeological and burial ground laws, and the need to digitalize archaeological records at the Department of Natural Resources to improve protection of cultural resources.

    Whereas, Indiana laws concerning archeology and burial grounds have not been updated or revised since their adoption; and

    Whereas, archaeological records at the Department of Natural Resources have not yet been converted to a digital form, slowing response times for the review and approval of archaeological plans and studies; Therefore,     

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish a committee to study Indiana's archeological and burial ground laws and the need to convert archaeological records into digital format.
    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established shall operate under the direction of the legislative council and the committee shall issue a final report and recommendations when directed to do so by the council.
