A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the Hamilton
Southeastern High School boys swimming team.
Whereas, The number-one ranked and undefeated Hamilton
Southeastern High School boys swimming team won its first
Indiana state boys high school swimming title;
Whereas, The team rolled up 262 points to second place
and defending champion North Central's 235, the closest
margin of victory since 1997;
Whereas, The team was so consistent throughout the meet
that there was only one event where the team did not have a
member in the championship heat;
Whereas, In addition to the team victory, Jason Beyerl,
Derek Paul, Cameron Owen, and Nathan Kinney are state
champions in the 200 medley relay;
Whereas, Spencer Osborne was awarded the Herman F.
Keller Mental Attitude Award, the second Hamilton
Southeastern swimmer in three years to win the award;
Whereas, Coach Andy Pedersen was selected as the Boys
Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year by the coaches at
the state finals; and
Whereas, Athletics can play a major role in the development of our youth. Striving for excellence in athletics, as in life, helps to teach our children to always try to achieve
their personal best in whatever they are doing: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates the
Hamilton Southeastern High School boys swimming team on its state
championship swimming title and wishes team members continued
success in all future endeavors.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the members of the Hamilton Southeastern boys swimming and diving team and Coach Andy Pedersen.
