Synopsis: Staffing of Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission.
Requires the office of the secretary of family and social services, not
the civil rights commission, to provide staff support for the Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission. Requires the Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission to receive a separate line
item appropriation in the state budget.
Effective: July 1, 2007.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning state
and local administration.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. IC 4-23-24.1-8 IS AMENDED TO READ AS
FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2007]: Sec. 8.
(a) The
civil rights
commission office of the secretary of family and social services shall
furnish the necessary staff support for the commission.
(b) The budget of the commission shall:
(1) be prepared separately from the budget of the office of the
secretary of family and social services; and
(2) receive a separate line item in the biennial budget bill of
the general assembly.
