SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. _____



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the 25th Annual National Church Music Conference to be held in Plainfield, Indiana.

    Whereas, the National Church Music Conference is a teaching conference that provides access to ministry professionals, an encouraging community, and affordable pricing in a great location;

    Whereas, in 1982, conference founder Dr. Don Sewell wanted to provide education and inspiration for music personnel in the churches of the Restoration Movement. Thus the first conference was held in April of 1983 and has continued to meet annually ever since;

    Whereas, the Association of Christian College Music Educators quickly joined Dr. Sewell, offering funds and leadership. The conference continued to meet on Christian Church college campuses around the United States for the next several years;

    Whereas, in 2000, the decision was made to hold the National Church Music Conference at the Plainfield Christian Church in Plainfield, Indiana. This location proved so successful, that it has served as the permanent home of the conference ever since; and
                        


    Whereas, the 2007 conference will be held from April 17th through the 20th. It will include appearances by special guests Mark Hayes, Keith and Krystin Getty, Paul Leddington Wright, Steve White, and Greg Atkinson. It will also feature a concert by the Anderson University Chorale: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes the National Church Music Conference on its 25th anniversary.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Dr. Don Sewell and to each member of the Executive Committee of the conference.
