        A RESOLUTION recognizing the Highland High School Marching Highlanders.

    Whereas, On August 8, 2007, the Highland High School Marching Highlanders competed with bands from all over Indiana at the Indiana State Fair Band Day Competition;

    Whereas, The Marching Highlanders, 120 members strong, were victorious, capturing first place performing their show entitled Highland Cathedral;

    Whereas, The Marching Highlanders are known throughout Indiana for their tradition of excellence and their unique music and uniforms;

    Whereas, The Marching Highlanders have performed in the 2002 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 1992, 1999, and 2006 Indianapolis 500 Parade, and they have applied for entry into the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Parade; and

    Whereas, High school bands have been entertaining Hoosiers at sporting events and competitions for as long as anyone can remember, and the Highland High School Marching Highlanders are an accomplished group of young people who deserve special recognition for their achievements: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Highland High School Marching Highlanders on their victory at the 2007 Indiana State Fair Band Day and wishes them continued success in all their future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the members of the Highland High School Marching Highlanders, band director Douglas Fletcher, assistant director Stephen Stickler, assistant principal Albert Young, and principal Mark Finger.
