Synopsis: Voter identification. Provides that an individual furnishes
acceptable proof of identification for voting purposes if the individual
presents one of the following documents issued to the individual, the
document shows the name of the individual, and the name conforms to
the name in the individual's voter registration record: (1) Identification
issued by the state, the United States, or a public or private higher
educational institution located in Indiana. (2) A current utility bill,
bank statement, paycheck, government check, or another government
document that shows the name and address of the individual. (3) A
driver's license or state identification card issued by a state other than
Indiana. Provides that an individual also provides acceptable proof of
identification: (1) if two precinct election officers who are members of
different major political parties execute an affidavit declaring that they
have personal knowledge of the individual and that the individual is the
individual whose name appears on the poll list; or (2) if the individual
executes an affidavit in which the individual swears or affirms that the
individual is the individual whose name appears on the poll list.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning

or technical school, that is accredited by a recognized
regional accrediting agency.

shows the name and address of the voter.
(5) A driver's license or state identification card issued by a
state other than Indiana.
(b) The term includes, in addition to the presentation of a
document described in subsection (a), the execution of an affidavit:
(1) under the penalties of perjury by:
(A) an individual who desires to vote; and
(B) two (2) precinct election officers who are members of
different major political parties;
(2) on a form prescribed by the commission; and
(3) in which the precinct election officers swear or affirm
that:
(A) the precinct election officers have personal knowledge
of the individual who desires to vote; and
(B) the individual is the individual whose name appears on
the poll list.
(c) The term includes, in addition to the presentation of a
document under subsection (a) or the execution of an affidavit
under subsection (b), the execution of an affidavit:
(1) under the penalties of perjury by an individual who desires
to vote;
(2) on a form prescribed by the commission; and
(3) in which the individual swears or affirms that the
individual is the individual whose name appears on the poll
list.
