    I move that Engrossed House Bill 1134 be amended to read as follows:

SOURCE: ; (08)MO113410.43. -->     "SECTION 43. [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE] (a) As used in this SECTION, "sentencing policy study committee" refers to the committee established by P.L.216-2007, SECTION 56.
    (b) The legislative council shall assign to the sentencing policy study committee for study the topic of the use of computers and the Internet by sex offenders. The legislative council shall instruct the sentencing policy study committee to specifically examine:
        (1) the extent to which persons required to register as a sex offender use computers and the Internet;
        (2) whether requiring the installation of hardware and software designed to monitor a person's Internet usage and imposing other restrictions on computer and Internet usage by a person required to register as a sex offender would promote public safety; and
        (3) the effect that Internet monitoring software and hardware would have on the employment opportunities of a person required to register as a sex offender.
The sentencing policy study committee may examine any other appropriate issue related to the use of computers and the Internet by sex offenders.
    (c) This SECTION expires November 1, 2008.
