SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative council to assign the topic of age discrimination and the state agency who should have jurisdiction over age discrimination proceedings to the Pension Management Oversight Committee for further study.

     Whereas, it is unlawful to discriminate against a person because of his/her age with respect to any term, condition, or privilege of employment, including, but not limited to, hiring, firing, promotion, layoff, compensation, benefits, job assignments, and training;

    Whereas, people over the age of forty are discriminated against when it comes to pension management oversight; and

    Whereas, age discrimination is an important topic affecting Hoosiers that deserves serious consideration from the legislature; Therefore:

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Legislative council is urged to assign the topic of age discrimination and the state agency who should have jurisdiction over age discrimination proceedings to the Pension Management Oversight Committee for study and research.

    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council, and that the committee shall issue a final report when directed to do so by the council.
