I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Joyce Christmas
upon her retirement from the staff of the Indiana Senate.
Whereas, Joyce Christmas was first hired by the Indiana
Senate in 1980. Her responsibilities included working as a
session receptionist and later supervising the staff and
functions of the phone center. In 2003, she retired from this
Whereas, in 2004, Joyce returned to the Indiana Senate to
supervise the Senate Proofreading Department, which reviews
all bills to help ensure their accuracy at each stage of the
Whereas, Joyce is known throughout the State House for
her colorful yet sophisticated attire, always with matching hats
or headwear and unique jewelry; and
Whereas, Joyce is a charming, caring, and loving
individual and will be missed by everyone who has had the
opportunity to know her and work with her: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That on behalf of the people of the State of Indiana,
we hereby extend our sincere appreciation to Joyce Christmas upon her
retirement from the staff of the Indiana Senate.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Joyce Christmas.
