Synopsis: Manufacture of flags used in public buildings. Provides an absolute purchasing preference for United States and Indiana flags manufactured in the United States. Provides that if there are no flags manufactured in the United States that meet the specifications of the purchasing agent, the purchasing agent may purchase flags manufactured outside the United States.

Effective: July 1, 2009.

HOUSE BILL No. 1493



    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning state offices and administration.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 5-22-15-26; (09)IN1493.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 5-22-15-26 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2009]: Sec. 26. (a) As used in this section, "flag" refers to either of the following:
        (1) The flag of the United States.
        (2) The state flag (described in IC 1-2-2).
    (b) Whenever a purchasing agent purchases flags, the purchasing agent shall give an absolute preference to flags manufactured in the United States.

     (c) If a purchasing agent determines that there are no flags manufactured in the United States that meet the specifications set by the purchasing agent, the purchasing agent may purchase flags manufactured outside the United States.
