Synopsis: Food stamps at farmers' markets. Requires that before
January 1, 2010, the division of family resources (division) must
provide retailers who sell food at a farmers' market with wireless point
of sale terminals that are connected to the electronic benefits transfer
(EBT) system. Provides that before July 1, 2010, the director of the
division may set a limit of not less than 20 wireless point of sale
terminals that are issued.
Effective: July 1, 2009.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning

SECTION 1. IC 12-13-14-13 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA
CODE AS A NEW
SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS
[EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2009]: Sec. 13. (a) Before January 1, 2010,
the division shall implement a program that provides a retailer
who sells food at a farmers' market with a wireless point of sale
terminal that is connected to the EBT system.
(b) Notwithstanding subsection (a), the director of the division
of family resources may limit, to a number not less than twenty
(20), the number of wireless point of sale terminals that are:
(1) connected to the EBT system; and
(2) issued to a retailer who sells food at a farmers' market.
This subsection expires July 1, 2010.
