MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I move
that Senate Bill 506 be amended to read as follows:

    Page 2, between lines 40 and 41, begin a new paragraph and insert:
    " (e) The provisions of subsection (d) do not apply to a county having a population of more than four hundred thousand (400,000) but less than seven hundred thousand (700,000). In a county having a population of more than four hundred thousand (400,000) but less than seven hundred thousand (700,000), the county assessor shall continue to be elected after 2010.".
    Page 4, line 9, after "However," insert " except as provided in subsection (g),".
    Page 5, between lines 25 and 26, begin a new paragraph and insert:
    " (g) In a county having a population of more than four hundred thousand (400,000) but less than seven hundred thousand (700,000), the county assessor shall continue to be elected after 2010.".
    Page 5, line 28, after "13." insert " (a)".
