        A RESOLUTION honoring Representative Cleo Duncan on the occasion of her retirement from the House of Representatives.

    Whereas, Representative Cleo Duncan, who was first elected to represent the citizens of House District 67 in 1994, will be leaving the House chamber for the last time at the end of the 2010 legislative session;

    Whereas, Before coming to the House, Representative Duncan was a member of the Greensburg City Council;

    Whereas, Representative Duncan was the first woman to chair the Roads and Transportation Committee and was instrumental in passing legislation to require vehicles to move

over one lane to avoid colliding with vehicles pulled over on the highway;

    Whereas, Representative Duncan authored or co-authored groundbreaking legislation dealing with ignition interlock devices, foster children protection, victims' rights, and Major Moves;

    Whereas, Representative Duncan has been instrumental in drafting legislation to remove state troopers from riverboats and create gaming agents, create the Proton Therapy Center at Indiana University, establish spinal cord and head injuries research centers at Indiana University and Purdue University, establish safe haven laws, and establish the Rail Safety Awareness Program;

    Whereas, In addition to her involvement with the Indiana House of Representatives, Representative Duncan is a member of the First Christian Church and the Greensburg Area Chamber of Commerce and is the founder of the Tree County Players;

    Whereas, Representative Duncan was awarded the Frank O'Bannon Sunshine Award, which honors the late governor by recognizing individuals, groups, and organizations for their efforts to protect and enhance the concept of open government in Indiana; and

    Whereas, Representative Cleo Duncan has served her constituency loyally and faithfully since her election to the Indiana General Assembly; Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives wishes to bid a fond farewell to Representative Cleo Duncan. The House of Representatives has seen only good things during her tenure. Legislators and staff alike will miss her greatly. Her departure will leave a void that will never be truly filled.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Representative Cleo Duncan and her family.
