SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative Council to establish an Interim Study Committee on Education to study the Reggio Emilia Approach.

     Whereas, The Reggio Emilia Approach is an educational philosophy centered on preschool and primary education;

    Whereas, The Reggio Emilia Approach is renowned worldwide for its innovative approach to education;

    Whereas, Teaching young children is at the heart of their philosophy, focusing on the natural development of children and the close relationships they share with their environment; and

    Whereas, An Interim Study Committee on Education is needed to fully analyze and research the use of the Reggio Emilia Approach in Indiana: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:



    SECTION 1. The Legislative Council is urged to establish an Interim Study Committee on Education to study the Reggio Emilia Approach.
    SECTION 2. The Committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the Legislative Council and issue a report when directed to do so by the Council.
    SECTION 3. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Legislative Council through the Executive Director of the Legislative Services Agency.
