SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Nancy Griffith upon her retirement from Gibson Superior Court where she served for nearly five decades.

    Whereas, Nancy Griffith expects to retire from her position as Chief Probation Officer for Gibson Superior Court on April 30, after marking more than forty-seven years in public service;

    Whereas, An unexpected opening in the county clerk's office led to Nancy's start in the world of the judicial system, working as Chief Deputy in the Gibson County Clerk's office in January, 1960;

    Whereas, Nancy worked in the clerk's office for twenty years, then became a court reporter twenty-seven years ago for Superior Court Judge Earl Penrod. She held the position until fifteen years ago, when she was appointed as Chief Probation Officer of Gibson Superior Court; and

    Whereas, While in the courthouse, Nancy worked for five judges and many attorneys. During that time, Nancy has also been active in Democratic Party politics, serving as an

electoral college member in the 1990's: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate honors Nancy Griffith upon her retirement from Gibson Superior Court where she served for nearly five decades.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Nancy Griffith.
