SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Charles E. Isch on his retirement from the First Bank of Berne after 46 years of service.

     Whereas, Charles E. Isch, President and CEO of the First Bank of Berne, will retire on April 30, 2010, after 46 years of service;

    Whereas, Born and raised in Adams County, Indiana, Charles graduated from Berne French High School in 1961;

    Whereas, Charles began his career with the First Bank of Berne in 1964, working as a teller. He swiftly moved to the loan department, where he worked as a loan officer;

    Whereas, Charles became a member of the Board of Directors of the First Bank of Berne in 1984. He was appointed the 9th President of the bank in 1993, a term that has endured for 17 years;

    Whereas, Under Charles' leadership, the First Bank of Berne has performed extremely well, boasting record high profit years in 2008 and 2009. In addition, it was rated the number one performing bank in Indiana for all four quarters

of 2009, an impressive feat considering the economic downturn the country has experienced;

    Whereas, As the number one bank in Indiana, the First Bank of Berne has over $415 million in assets and operates a total of eight offices in Berne, Indiana; Decatur, Indiana; Bluffton, Indiana; Portland, Indiana; and Van Wert, Ohio;

    Whereas, Charles is a past President and board member of the Berne Chamber of Commerce, as well as a past board member of the Community Bankers of Indiana;

    Whereas, Charles serves on the Berne Community Development Corporation's Board of Directors and is a Berne Rotary Member. He is a member of the Wells County Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Adams County Economic Development Team. In addition, he is a member of the Indiana Bankers Association 40-Year Club; and

    Whereas, Charles E. Isch's years of service to the First Bank of Berne are to be commended. With his retirement, the First Bank of Berne will be losing one of its greatest assets: Therefore,


Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Charles E. Isch on his retirement from the First Bank of Berne and his 46 years of service.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Charles E. Isch.
