RESOLUTION No. _____



    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Dave Parry for his innovative career in college football officiating.

    Whereas, after fifty years in the avocation of officiating, Dave Parry will retire as the national coordinator for NCAA College Football Officiating;

    Whereas, Dave Parry, for thirty-two years, was a former teacher, coach, and athletics director for Michigan City area schools and a member of their Hall of Fame;

    Whereas, Dave Parry cultivated a positive environment with the Big Ten Conference as supervisor of officials;

    Whereas, Dave Parry was a Big Ten and Mid American Conference NCAA basketball official for twenty years;
    
    Whereas, as national coordinator he maintained consistent application of playing rules and officiating mechanics;

    Whereas, Dave Parry facilitated bringing instant replay into the Big Ten, the first conference to do so;
    
    Whereas, Dave Parry officiated Super Bowl XVII and was an NFL official from 1975-1990 and was assigned to fourteen playoff games and four conference championships;


    
    Whereas, Dave Parry has been married over fifty-five years to his wife Patricia, has three daughters, two sons, and ten grandchildren. His son, John Parry, is in his eleventh year as an NFL official while his other son, David Parry is an executive with Philips Medical;

    Whereas, Dave Parry is a Wabash College honors graduate from 1957, and a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame;

    Whereas, Dave Parry received the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Outstanding Football Official Award, for contributions to the sport of college football; and

    Whereas, Dave Parry is the face of integrity and the pursuit of excellence;                 

Be it resolved therefore, by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly wishes to congratulate Dave Parry on his outstanding career and many contributions to football officiating.    
    SECTION 2. That copies of this resolution be transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Dave Parry.
