SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. _____

    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Notre Dame women's soccer team on winning the national championship.

    Whereas, In a thrilling final, Notre Dame defeated previously unbeaten Stanford in the championship match of the 2010 NCAA Women's College Cup to win the national championship;

    Whereas, The Irish won their second national championship under Coach Randy Waldrum and third in program history. The Irish rebounded from a startling loss to Connecticut in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament barely a month prior to playing in the national title game;

    Whereas, Notre Dame's defense, led by juniors Jessica Schuveiller and Molly Campbell, shut down Stanford's leading scorer Christen Press. With the ball down in front of the left post but no clear shot, Melissa Henderson passed the ball back out and freshman forward Adriana Leon looped a route to the ball to send a left-footed blast off the post and into the net, breaking a scoreless stalemate in the 63rd minute;

    Whereas, It was the fifth straight trip to the College Cup for Notre Dame and the win gave the Irish their third title; and

    Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly congratulates the Notre Dame women's soccer team, players Rose Augustin, Courtney Berg, Ellen Bartindale, Lindsay Brown, Molly Campbell, Haley Chamberlain, Lauren Fowlkes, Maddie Fox, Brynn Gerstle, Jazmin Hall, Melissa Henderson, Erica Iantorno, Ellen Jantsch, Mandy Laddish, Adriana Leon, Liz McNeil, Kecia Morway, Julie Scheidler, Jessica Schuveiller, Jordan Snyder, Elizabeth Tucker, Tayler Turner, Rebecca Twining, Nikki Weiss, and Elizabeth Wilson; and coaches Randy Waldrum, Dawn Greathouse, Ken Nuber, and Jeannette Boudway, on winning the national championship: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly
