    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing Dan Novreske on his retirement.

     Whereas, Dan Novreske, a longtime Indiana tax and budget expert, is retiring after 40 years in state government;

    Whereas, Mr. Novreske graduated from Indiana University, and went on to work as a Budget Analyst for the Indiana State Budget Agency from 1971 to 1981;

    Whereas, As the Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer for the Indiana Department of Transportation from 1981 to 1992, Mr. Novreske helped design Indiana's first highway bonding program;

    Whereas, Mr. Novreske served as Executive Director of the Indiana Transportation Finance Authority from 1992 to 1996;

    Whereas, From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Novreske was Deputy Director of the Indiana State Budget Agency. During his time there, he handled the State Revolving Loan Fund, was

Chairman of the State Deferred Compensation Committee, and represented the state of Indiana before National Credit Rating Agencies;

    Whereas, Since 2001, Mr. Novreske worked as the senior fiscal analyst for the Indiana Senate, playing a major role in the restructuring of corporate taxes in 2002, and in the restructuring of property taxes in 2008;

    Whereas, Honest, approachable, fair-minded, thoughtful, calm, genial, fun, and hard-working best describe Mr. Novreske. He was consistently one of the first to arrive and last to leave the Statehouse;    

    Whereas, During Mr. Novreske's tenure, he worked on 17 budgets, worked for several budget directors, and for three Chairs of the Senate Appropriations Committee;

    Whereas, Mr. Novreske and his wife Caroline love to travel and look forward to seeing many new sites; and

    Whereas, Dan Novreske has done an outstanding job working for the state of Indiana for the past 40 years. His expertise and congenial disposition will be sorely missed by the legislators and staff: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate recognizes Dan Novreske on his retirement and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Dan Novreske.
