    A HOUSE RESOLUTION to honor Representative Nancy Dembowski on her retirement from the Indiana House of Representatives.
    
    Whereas, Representative Nancy Dembowski has represented her constituents, the citizens of House District 17, at the Statehouse since 2006;

    Whereas, Before her service in the Indiana House of Representatives, Representative Dembowski was already a dedicated and accomplished public servant, having served as her community's state Senator from 2002 until 2004, and before that having served three terms as the Mayor of the city of Knox, from 1991 until 2002, and two terms as a Starke County Councilwoman, from 1984 until 1991;

    Whereas, before beginning her career in public service, Representative Dembowski worked at WKVI radio in Knox for twenty-five years, where she learned the value of clear and effective communication, a lesson she applied diligently as a

public servant in her tireless work with and on behalf of her constituents;

    Whereas, Representative Dembowski has been an active and dedicated member of her community through her involvement in numerous civic organizations, including as a former member of the Starke County Coalition Against Domestic Abuse, a current member of the Starke County Community Foundation and the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, and the founder of the Candy Cane Committee; and,

    Whereas, Representative Dembowski feels it has been her honor and privilege to serve her constituents at the Statehouse, takes pride in her efforts to better education in Indiana and to bring more jobs to Hoosier communities, and has always been eager to speak for those who are seldom heard: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives thanks Representative Nancy Dembowski for her dedicated and honorable service to her constituency and to the state of Indiana, and wishes her happiness and contentment in her retirement.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Representative Dembowski and her family.
